What follows is an unsolicited Breeches.com review. We were not paid for this review, but figured we should know the companies we partner with as affiliates and ended up buying a product from them for our equestrian to use while riding.
Breeches.com is an affiliate of ours, and we do use affiliate links throughout our website, but until they read this review they have no idea who we are during the course of us buying a product and contacting them for customer service.
How’d they do? Read on —
We recently bought a pair of tall English riding boots online for the first time. It was the first time buying boots online because we don’t live far from a few riding stores, and have historically bought from one of them where we could try everything on.
We’ve also been recipients of more than one hand-me-down boots from a friend.
Well our girl had a growth spurt and ended up needing an odd sized boot in order to go riding that we just couldn’t find anywhere else. She’s 12 years old but has a size 9 woman’s foot. The kicker here is that because she’s also so tall and skinny, she needed an extra slim boot calf that was also only so many inches tall.
I have to say that, overall, Breeches.com has gotten high marks from us for this review. Let me detail the transaction a little bit more.
We had a problem in that we were so focused on finding a size 9 woman boot with an extra slim calf, that we forgot to measure how tall the boot should be. We just placed the order once we saw the right boot, ecstatic that we found the right one for a show we’ve got coming up next month.
If you ever order boots from an online source make sure you take all measurements into account.
We were so focused on measuring her calf and getting an extra slim in a size 9, not easy by the way, that we forgot about the other measurements until it was too late. We had already placed the order late at night after normal working hours.
We were worried about our purchase because tall riding boots aren’t exactly cheap, and we saw that we’d have to pay for shipping back and a restocking fee if we needed to return them. We got right on the phone with Breeches.com the next day.
(Well, my wonderful wife got on the phone because that’s outside of my comfort zone.)
Holly is the name of the customer service agent we spoke to, and she was great. She informed us that we should keep the purchase and let it come to us so we can try the boots on. And, if they didn’t actually fit she assured us that she’d get us something that worked.
And, while there is a restocking fee, it’s waived if we end up with a different set of boots from them. She told us to call her back if we had a problem and assured us that everything would work out just fine.
All in all, it felt like a we were talking to a friend on the phone and that instead of some massive organization where we wouldn’t have felt important, Holly made us feel like we were the only thing on her mind at the time and seemed dedicated to help us through our concerns.
She seemed like she wanted us to be happy and because of that customer service we will buy from them again.
If I had any negative feedback about the experience, it would be that their website can be a bit hard to navigate on a phone. And, when looking at products, the price change from one page to another on certain products can be irritating for sure.
For example, some of the boots we were looking at were listed as available FROM a certain price, say $69.95 with a strike through of the “real price.”
The problem is that once you get to the product page that “from” price is nowhere to be found and you’re hit with sticker shock of $153. That’s a big jump.
Now, in their defense, to see the “from” price, you have to click on other boot sizes and the price would change. Still to me, a strike through next to a price means a sale, and I’m not a fan of sticker shock.
Maybe offering a range of prices instead of the strike through indicating to me that it was a sale would be a better option. Let me know what the top price is so I’m not trying to figure out what happened.
But I’m nitpicking here, and this isn’t really that big of a deal because they have coupon codes (I’ll give you one at the bottom of this article) to help you save money and the shipping time was some of the fastest shipping I had seen in recent times.
With all that’s going on in the world I thought for sure our package would have taken at least a week to get to us. They’re based in Pennsylvania (our former home state), and we’re now in NC and we had the package in just a couple days.
They’ve got a great selection of equestrian gear and if you click on this link and use the code BRSAS20 at checkout you can get 20% off your first order if you buy something.
